Abstract
In the last few decades it has been established that, communication with light is much, much easier than communication with electricity. Many proposals have already been proposed in many fields in support of this. Here a new concept of all-optical binary to excess-3 code encoder or converter is proposed with the proper use of nonlinear optical material. In this scheme the input and output binary digits are expressed as the presence (= 1) and the absence (= 0) of the light signal. The intensity based optical XOR, AND and OR logic gates are used here as the basic building blocks.
