Abstract
The cytochrome P450 BM3 monooxygenase system from Bncillus megnrerium provides a unique model system for mammalian class 11 P450s. including those involved in human drug metabolism. It is a flavocytochrome, containing both P450 and NADPH-P450 reductase redox partner in a single polypeptide chain, and is the only prokaryotic class I1 P450. It is also soluble, unlike its eukaryotic membranous counterparts. which greatly simplifies preparation and analysis (1.2).
