Abstract

This paper presents a linearized model of saturated self-excited synchronous reluctance generator considering the effect of saturation in both the direct and quadrature axes. The proposed model has been applied to obtain eigenvalues for different operating conditions considering only d-axis saturation and both d- and q-axis saturation. The importance of the inclusion of the q-axis saturation on the steady-state stability analysis of a saturated self-excited synchronous reluctance generator is manifested using this proposed model. The effects of load power factor, excitation capacitance, and active and reactive power output on the steady-state performance are also demonstrated in this paper
