Abstract
El objetivo de este trabajo es reflexionar sobre la Antigüedad grecolatina y las maneras de enseñar el origen de las palabras. Hoy esta tarea corresponde a los profesores de las llamadas Letras Clásicas, pero antes eran los gramáticos quienes se dedicaban a ello. Proponemos un acercamiento a la figura de Prisciano de Cesearea (s. IV d. C)., de glan influencia en los estudios de Gramática en la Edad Media. Se hace un breve repaso sobre algunos elementos centrales de su Ars prisciani, como derivación, composición, sintaxis, etimología, entre otros.
