Abstract

In this paper, a new non-randomized response model is proposed. Two unrelated questions are used in the proposed model to estimate a single sensitive question in surveys. The estimated proportion of a sensitive characteristic in an unknown population can be calculated using the obtained maximum likelihood equation from the maximum likelihood method. The performance of the proposed estimation is evaluated by the Monte Carlo simulation method. The model proposed here proved to be more efficient than the randomized response model studied by Warner (1965) and the non-randomized model presented by Yu et al. (2008). A simulation example demonstrates the feasibility of the method.
