Abstract

Algae due to their nature tend to be cosmopolitan. In Lake Teletskoye phytoplankton three conditionally endemic, or neoendemic species, were collected – Cymbella kolbei Sheshukova, Surirella lepnevae Poretzky et Sheshukova and S. pusilla Sheshukova. The geological age of Lake Teletskoye as contrasted to the ancient world lakes is insignificant – 320,000 years. In origin Lake Teletskoye is similar to a fluvial valley and water in the lake is replaced every 5–7 years. This may be the reason why hydrobiont endemism in Teletskoye, including algae, is not pronounced. The abundance of endemic species in the lake as in the phytoplankton is very low.
