Abstract
Abstract Alfalfa was planted at the University of Minnesota Rosemount Agricultural Experiment Station May 11. Insecticidal sprays were applied to 21 × 28 ft2 plots July 15. A completely randomized block design of 3 replications was used. The sprays were applied by boom sprayer in 48 gal water/acre at 175 psi. Pea aphid, spotted alfalfa aphid, and potato leafhopper nymphs were vacuum sampled July 15 and July 27. Each sample consisted of 15 “put-downs” of a 8 in dia vacuum hose (equivalent to 5.8 ft2/plot).
