Abstract
ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research was to determine if differences existed in the characteristics of the collisions of motorcycle drivers classified as sober, had been drinking, or impaired. Eight characteristics of the driver and crash circumstances were examined for 214 fatal motorcycle crashes and four variables were isolated which most clearly differentiated the crashes of impaired from non-impaired operators. The results are discussed in terms of the relative contributions of age and alcohol impairment to the crash occurrence.
