Abstract

The capabilities of different albedo dosemeter designs so far applied in personnel monitoring are discussed, with emphasis on the dose range, reproducibility, energy and directional dependence, ? ray sensitivity, the detector-to-body distance. The main problem in albedo dosimetry is to optimise the readout procedure and to calibrate the dosemeter in the environment of each neutron source by applying survey measurement, phantom calibrations, or special field data. Examples of routine monitoring and stray neutron field analysis are presented.
