Abstract
We herein developed an effective colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescent chemoprobe MPIM and successfully revealed its efficiency for naked eye recognition of Al3+ in MeOH/HEPES (6/4, v/v, pH = 7.4). Upon exposure of MPIM to diverse amounts of Al3+, the detection limit values for Al3+ were found as 12.6 µM and 1.82 μM, respectively. The MPIM was practically efficient and excellently selective for Al3+ in the existence of potentially competitive ions. The MPIM could be regenerated from MPIM–Al3+ complex with an appropriate agent of F–. The binding phenomenon of MPIM–Al3+ (2:1) was authenticated using Job's plot, FT–IR, 1H NMR titration and MALDI TOF–MS, and it was supported by DFT. Furthermore, the practical utilities of our prototype chemoprobe were clarified for Al3+ in diverse products, Smartphone and test kits applications without the aid of any sophisticated tool.
