Abstract

One of the results of the Twentieth Liberation Revolution in Iraq was that it convinced the British that they could not rule Iraq directly as they had hoped. They were convinced of the necessity of involving the Iraqis in governing their country, so they began to think of finding a king on the throne of Iraq from the sons of their ally, Sharif Hussein, and their choice fell on Prince Faisal. Here, Al-Iraq newspaper began its role in alerting the Iraqi public opinion to the importance of accepting and supporting this decision because of its positive repercussions on the Iraqi reality from the political and economic point of view, which explains the newspaper's keenness to shed light on this decision. The role of the Sharif family, especially the role of Prince Faisal in the events that occurred in the Arabian Peninsula, Syria and Iraq that accompanied the First World War, and the follow-up of the stages of his arrival in Iraq, his visits to cities, and his visits. Meetings with prominent Iraqi personalities and following up on the details of the referendum on taking the throne to declare him king of Iraq
