Abstract
Summary The Interaction of the Rivers with the Divers Land Uses in the Development – Conversion Process of the Urban Areas Stated on the Example of Izmir Province The urban rivers in the process of population growth and industrial development are polluted, their beds are narrowed and turned to areas where noone willing to live. The scheme though is as drawn, researches on urban rivers are limited in our country. In this study, six polluted rivers of the Izmir Province are dealt with as the bases of the research. The interaction of the rivers with the land uses are assesed within the method formated. The existing major issues are identified and the recommendations for the existing – future of the urban river banks are opened to discussion in order to create a new vision for the future of the urban river banks.
