Abstract
Abstract AISI 1117 is a resulfurized carbon steel for use where a free-machining carburizing steel is required. Its manganese content (nominally 1.15%) provides some increase in hardenability in all applications and increased hardness and strength in uncarburized uses and in the core of carburized parts. Its applications include a wide range of components of components and parts for machinery and structures. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: CS-96. Producer or source: Carbon steel mills.
