Abstract

In 1981 INTERA Technologies Ltd. and the Alberta Research Council entered into a joint development of a research aircraft facility. A two dimensional airflow and droplet trajectory model was used to determine the best practicable location for mounting imaging probes. The model used a distributed vorticity method to find the potential flow solution about the aircraft silhouette. A non-dimensional equation was developed to model droplet trajectories. A number of drag formulations were investigated. A discussion of the significance of the droplet mass flux corrections factor is also presented.
