Abstract

Aircraft noise nuisance, particularly in the vicinity of airports, makes it necessary to monitor aircraft noise continuously. As with all kinds of other monitoring installations used in environmental protection, aircraft noise monitoring also contributes to the reporting, investigation and prevention of nuisance and damage. Specific tasks are generated for this, such as the gathering of empirical values, understanding of actual conditions, control of limit values, yield of large quantities of data as well as its teletransmission, processing and analysis. Modern computer techniques are best suited to these tasks. Siemens monitoring systems have proved themselves at many airports. Their modular design makes them forward‐looking, since they can be extended to cover any additional task at any time.
