Abstract

In reply We thank Rosenblatt and colleagues for informing us of their two cases of air bag—related ocular injuries. Their suggestion for closer cooperation between physicians with knowledge of air bag—related trauma, governmental regulatory offices, and automobile makers is a valid one. We believe that the conscientious reporting of these potentially vision-threatening injuries would not only heighten awareness among our colleagues, but also encourage cooperative efforts to provide constructive criticism of current air bag designs. This criticism, however, is not meant to minimize the tremendous strides made in reducing morbidity and mortality due to motor vehicle accidents through the use of air bags. 1
