Abstract

Introduction: The article presents selected aid solutions introduced in 20202021 in several European Union (EU) countries (Italy, Spain, Germany) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its negative economic effects. Government assistance has often been temporary, but some labour market and social security changes are systemic.Objective: Presentation of aid solutions in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic in EU countries, an overview of the short-term aid measures and system changes. Materials and methods: Review of government websites and legislation regulating the state of the COVID-19 pandemic and assistance solutions during this period.Results: The conclusions indicate that aid solutions aimed at supporting the labour market in Germany and Spain effectively mitigate the economic difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, the implementation of anti-crisis programs is a particular challenge for public administration.
