Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) offer revolutionary changes in the healthcare industry and medical practice. Integration of AI and IoT is being exploited to make intelligent healthcare systems proficient in supporting real-time environments. Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices such as wearable devices can generate vast amounts of real-time data, which in turn efficiently and effectively process data by AI techniques. This chapter focuses on different IoMT devices that are used to generate and collect healthcare data to be processed by AI learning techniques. AI- and IoT-based architecture is suggested to connect and support three prime healthcare industry entities, namely patient, provider, and hospital. AI–IoT enhances diagnostics and clinical decisions, improves acute disease prevention, and enhances patient care and real-time interaction. AI- and IoT-based architectures enrich smart healthcare management. Emergency care management, COVID-19 management, remote healthcare management, and drug management are some of the applications of smart healthcare management. This chapter also focuses on the impact of AI–IoT convergence on the healthcare industry.
