Abstract

The use of carbon fiber reinforced polymer sheets in the joints of wooden structures which have been used frequently in strengthening studies in recent years. As it is known, the use of steel sheets in the joints of wooden buildings is a common practice. However, because of the natural moisture in the wood, steel sheets are easily corroded. Forth is reason, in the joints of the wooden structures, the wood decomposes in time and reduces the life of the wooden structures. In this study, increasing the mechanical resistance by using the corrosion-resistant CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) instead of steel sheets has been investigated. As a result of the study, it was determined that the strength of carbon fiber reinforced samples has reached180% of the strength of the samples reinforced by steel bars.
