Abstract

AGU was formally elected a member of the American Institute of Physics (AIP) on March 14, 1986, at the AIP corporation meeting. Other member societies are the American Physical Society, the Optical Society of America, the Acoustical Society of America, the Society of Rheology, the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Crystallographic Association, the American Astronomical Society, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, and the American Vacuum Society.Membership in AIP will bring AGU members direct benefits and will strengthen the community of scientific societies. Of immediate interest to some members will be Pi‐NET (described in the item “Electronic Network Links Physicists,” p. 151), which provides electronic access to abstracts and tables of contents, meeting information, and other services of AIP and all member societies.
