Abstract

Abstract Wireworms are the larval stage of click beetles (Coleoptera: Elateridae) and, as a pest group, encompass around 20 species in Canada. European Agriotes spp. introduced to Canada during the period 1850-1900 have become major pests. This chapter presents information on the pest status in Canada, followed by a comprehensive background on previous studies on this pest, review of the use of biological control in these programmes, an evaluation of the biological control efforts and future needs in research or implementation activities.
