Abstract

The first year of the Ninth Five-Year Plan has passed. Collective and state farms are summing up the totals for the agricultural year and are outlining their advances for the future. Notwithstanding unfavorable weather conditions in a number of regions throughout the nation, agricultural workers achieved rather good indices. In 1971, the grain crop yield was 15.3 centners as opposed to an average of 13.7 centners in 1966-1970 and 15.6 centners in 1970. The gross grain harvest amounted to 181 million tons. The nation harvested a record crop of raw cotton in excess of 7.1 million tons.
