Abstract

As we gather here today (September 17, 1999) for the Eighteenth Annual Meeting of the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society (AGOS), it is just over some 100 days from the new millenium. The end of an era is an appropriate time for reflection and for review of the history and activities of an organization such as ours. We need to determine what we have been about and what we have accomplished. Moreover, as we are about to enter a new century, it is an expedient time to consider what important issues we might try to address, and take a leadership role in, during the first few years or decade of the 2000s.
