Abstract
The rate of disease progression in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients is variable. A significant proportion of AD patients appear to experience an aggressive course of disease, and this has a major impact on prognosis, the patients, and their caregivers and society in general. Here we review the current literature on an aggressive course of disease in dementia and how it can be recognized in clinical practice. We also discuss the options available for treating patients with this condition.
