Abstract

With increasing life expectancy and percentage of older population, USA is experiencing a rise in the diseases of old age. One such disease is presbycusis, or hearing loss in elderly. In 2023, approximately two-thirds of Americans aged 70 or above are affected by this disease (1). Many of these cases often go undiagnosed and untreated. In this article, we provide an overview of presbycusis and discuss strategies to prevent hearing loss and review treatment options when impacted.
