Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyse distinct modes of ethnic action from studies and documentary records on Polish immigrants and descendants in the South of Brazil, as we keep up with effects of Polish State’s instabilities on emigrated people. First of all, we address conflicts between political and religious leaders, mainly Vincentian, in the first decades of the XXth Century, and the role of consular representatives. At the same time the presence of “ethnic agents” and “ethnic intellectual”, both secular and religious, whose ideas began to converge to a joint action after mid-sixties, will be highlighted.
