Abstract

In cases involving compensation treatment for edentulousness related to agenesis of the lateral incisors, the transition phase between the orthodontic and the prosthetic stages is tricky. Using clinical illustrations, we will demonstrate that it is time we took a fresh look at our practices. The aim will be to shorten this phase either by postponing the orthodontic stage into adulthood or by placing the prosthesis as quickly as possible on completion of the orthodontic stage, a process which is now feasible, thanks to advances in the designing of bonded bridges and notably of cantilever bonded bridges.
