Abstract

The research proposes the analysis of the actual situation regarding the social marginalization of the elderly in Romania, so, the ageism and the impact of the intergenerational practices in the fight against this phenomenon, through initiation of similar actions to those from the European Union member states (education, prevention, etc.). The research argument was that the elderly in Romania are stigmatized when they reach the retirement age and this problem is not approached until now in our county.For this paper quantitative and qualitative research methods were used. Final results indicate that in Romania the ageism phenomenon is present and a solution for this is intergenerational practices.
