Abstract

A modification is proposed for the widely used Baz˘ant age-adjusted effective modulus method (AEMM) based on the generalized Baz˘ant theorem. The modified method is a numerical approximation procedure for calculating stresses and deformations in structures subject to creep, which accounts for the loading history of the structure. By applying this method to the case of time-dependent loads, it is possible to obtain exact solutions for homogeneous structures and approximate solutins for nonhomogeneous structures. The modified AEMM reduces to the usual AEMM for the case of instantaneously applied time-independent loads.
