Abstract
The burden of Gastrointestinal tract lesions is high in every medical or surgical OPD. Endoscopic biopsy of GI tract is the most useful investigation performed in hospital for a variety of benign and malignant lesions. While Histopathology is the gold standard for diagnosing the endoscopically detected lesions. A total of 60 endoscopic biopsies were studied prospectivel Methods: y from 1st June 2021 to 31st May 2022 in department of Pathology, Assam Medical College. Out of 60 cases, most of the cases a Results: re adult population (15-59 yrs.) (86.67%). There is male predominance in our study with male :female ratio of 1.72:1.Among the adult population, the most common age group belong to 3rd decade 18(30%). The most common diagnosis on Histopathology observed were Chronic Gastritis 39 (65%) mostly seen below 60 years, while among geriatric population (>60 years) maximum were Adenocarcinoma 3 (5%). Endoscopic examinat Conclusion: ion and biopsy is a convenient procedure and is insufcient for accurate objective assessment and management of gastrointestinal tract disease.
