Abstract

Evidence-based practice is pivotal to improving maternity care. In the developing world there exist multiple barriers that inhibit midwives from developing their research skills and implementing findings into practice. This article describes an initiative carried out by African midwives to overcome some of these barriers. An ongoing programme is discussed which highlights the achievements made by committed midwives who are striving to improve the health of women.
