Abstract

Engineers have developed an injection‐moulding process for producing aircraft canopies and windshields much more cheaply than with current techniques. The new fabrication method, developed in a research project sponsored by the US Air Force's Wright Laboratory Flight Dynamics Directorate outside Dayton, Ohio, cuts the cost of these “transparencies” by 90 per cent.
