Abstract
The removal of the low density wind tunnel from the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) to the Royal Aircraft Establishment in December 1971 constituted the first step in the movement of several important aerodynamic test facilities, and provides an opportunity for Dr R. C. Pankhurst, Superintendent of the NPL Aerodynamics Division from 1964 to 1970, to recall briefly some of the contributions made by the division to the advancement of its subject.
