Abstract

AbstractAdvocacy in language teaching refers to the act of positively advancing the public and political realities connected to issues in language and language teaching. An advocate in language teaching is someone who espouses and argues for one or more issues in language teaching hoping to positively influence its outcome for the common good. When it is enacted by those who are directly involved with the language teaching profession (e.g., applied linguists, language teacher educators, classroom teachers), such actions represent instances of participatory professionalism.
