Abstract
You might think that finding and selecting a textbook for an introductory computing course is routine and simple. A normal scenario would be to survey and select a textbook via catalogues and bookstore visits and place a book order through your department a few months before it is needed. The bookstore would order the textbooks, and the correct quantity of books and materials would arrive in plenty of time before the course begins. In the event of a last minute teaching assignment, such as an instructor backing out of teaching a course, the scenario might be to place a rush order via the bookstore with special delivery instructions, and receive the materials within a few days.
