Abstract
Optogenetics is a technology that combines genetic engineering and light stimuli to manipulate specific groups or types of cells. It allows researchers to have spatial and temporal control, therefore showing great promise in the field of neuroscience [1]. In regards to neuroscience, the technology allows researchers to conduct advanced experiments to uncover the functions of specific brain areas. Optogenetics can also be used in the therapeutic side for neurological diseases by manipulating dysfunctional cells to restore function and alleviate disease symptoms [1].
