Abstract

Different gas carburization methods intended for processing quality assurance are compared by analyzing the indices of the applied processing atmosphere, i.e., the carbon potential level and the possibility of its regulation, as well as the weight transfer ratio. The efficiency of vacuum carburization is shown, wherein a sound processing atmosphere accompanies the advantages of automated processing equipment that combines carburization and dry high-pressure nitrogen hardening. The advisability of setting up a specialized vacuum unit manufacturing plant for thermal production upgrade is substantiated.
