Abstract

Advances of hybrid wheat breeding in China are reviewed in this paper. The hybrid wheat program was started in 1965 and now three systems, cytoplasm male sterility, chemical hybridization agents and two-line system, are used for hybrid wheat seed production. Many hybrids were enrolled in regional yield trials for registration and 3 hybrids were released. It is believed that hybrid wheat has a promising future and will make a great contribution to crop production in China.
