Abstract
Diabetes is a prevalent global health issue with high morbidity and mortality, often leading to secondary complications such as diabetic wounds. These wounds, caused by hyperglycemia, oxidative stress, bacterial infection, ischemia, and hypoxia, pose serious health threats to patients. As a crucial method of wound management, significant strides have been made in the use of medical dressings to treat infected diabetic foot wounds in recent years. This review summarizes the types of medical dressings and their application in the treatment of infected diabetic wounds, covering four major categories: traditional dressings, skin and skin substitutes, modern dressings, and biological dressings. Medical dressings play an important role in improving the healing speed of diabetic wounds, reducing infection risk, and lowering amputation rates. Our results provide a reference for the design of new, efficient diabetic wound dressings that can enhance treatment outcomes and improve patient quality of life.
