Abstract

The chief difficulty in linking global climate model (GCM) scenarios with crop simulation models is a substantial mismatch, on spatial and temporal scales, between GCM output and crop simulation model input requirements. This conflict may be settled by either downscaling climate models or upscaling crop models. The merits and demerits of each of the methods are summarized and future approach for linking GCM and crop models vividly introduced.
