Abstract

The nucleation of superconductivity is sensitive to the spatial stray field configuration insuperconducting/ferromagnetic heterostructures. We fabricated a Nb/FePt heterostructureby pulsed laser deposition and polishing so that the superconductor is confinedgeometrically between the ferromagnetic islands. The superconducting/normal phaseboundary of the hybrid was studied in detail, offering information on the mean stray fieldstrength of the FePt islands revealed by the compensation effect and the spatialarrangement of the magnetic islands evaluated by the Little–Parks oscillation frequency.
