Abstract

An advanced free electron laser resonator concept has been developed for operation in the high-power regime. The resonator includes two corner cube end-mirrors arranged in a self-imaging confocal unstable configuration. Analysis showed that the cavity alignment sensitivity is reduced by orders of magnitude and mode profiles become almost uniform with increased aberration and thermal tolerances.
