Abstract
The advancement of technology in the field of automation is increasing day by day. The manual systems in many industries and in various fields are changing into automatic systems for easy handling and time-preserving. The industrial preparation and processing and manufacturing industries are extremely automated to get maximum yield from the raw materials. The instruments used in the process plant can measure highly corrosive, explosive and aggressive substances like liquid and gases with high reliability, accuracy and efficiency. In addition, they are resistive to humidity, dust and also minor disasters. This paper elucidates the operation, function and structure of an actual process plant in addition to the detailed understanding of centum VP which is known as Yokogawa’s dedicated distributed control system (DCS). The main objective of the paper is to explain the important steps and concepts used in process industry.
