Abstract

Flexible bronchoscopy (including fiberoptic bronchoscopy and electronic bronchoscopy; bronchoscopy for short) is an important approach to the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary diseases.And it has been widely used in clinical practice.Topical anesthesia is the most commonly used for flexible brochoscopy.When the bronchoscopy is inserted through the glottis and airway below the glottis, patients frequently experience cough, sensation of asphyxiation, nausea and other discomforts.However, painless bronchoscopy, which is topical anesthesia combined with intravenous sedation and analgesic, may reduce or eliminate discomfort during flexible brochoscopy examination.The article reviews the research progress of painless bronchoscopy and provides reference for the clinical practice.
