Abstract
A 31-year-old woman with a history of desmoplastic medulloblastoma in the right cerebellar hemisphere had undergone a resection. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was indicated with the aim of ruling out a relapse, but the results were inconclusive. in-111-DTPA octreotide scintigraphy was performed. Planar images and SPECT scan obtained after radiolabeled octreotide injection revealed elevated uptake in the posterior fossa suggestive of relapse. The patient underwent a craniotomy for surgical resection. Although medulloblastoma is the most common. pediatric central nervous system malignancy, it is rare in adults with few cases studied with somatostatin receptor scintigraphy and described in the existing literature.
