Abstract

1. The isosteric heats of adsorption of water vapors by active carbons in the region of small degrees of filling, where the adsorption isotherms are described by the Langmuir equation, increase with an increase in adsorption due to a decrease in the number of primary adsorption centers with an increase in the temperature. 2. The differential heats of adsorption determined by the derivative (∂p/∂T)θ are almost independent of the adsorption value. The condition θ=const means the constancy of the average number of water molecules adsorbed per primary center. 3. The results obtained are in agreement with a cluster mechanism of adsorption of water vapors by carbon adsorbents.
