Abstract

1. The water-vapor adsorption isotherm for mesoporous active carbon is similar in shape to the adsorption isotherm for nonporous graphitized carbon black and can be assigned to type III adsorption isotherms with a type H3 hysteresis loop. 2. Volume filling of the adsorption space of the mesopores only takes place near the saturation pressure. 3. Adsorption of water vapors on non-, meso-and microporous carbon adsorbents related to the amount of primary adsorption centers is satisfactorily described by a common curve similar to the isotherms of adsorption of water vapors on the adsorption centers of totally hydroxylated nonporous silica and silica gel.
