Abstract

The specific adsorption of succinate and maleate anions from mixed electrolyte solutions at constant cationic strength at gold (311) single crystals has been studied. The adsorption can be described by a virial adsorption isotherm. The basic parameters of this isotherm were determined and interpreted in terms of the arrangement of metal atoms on the electrode surface and the geometric and electric structure of maleate and succinate anions.
