Abstract

The specific adsorption of cyclohexane and benzenesulfonate anions has been studied from mixed electrolyte solutions at constant ionic strength at a mercury electrode. The adsorption can be described by a virial adsorption isotherm. The role of the π-electrons in the adsorption process and the charge dependence of the standard Gibbs energy is discussed. The influence of conformational properties of cyclohexanesulfonate anion on the structure of the inner double layer is also considered.
