Abstract

A study was made of the effect of hydrodynamic conditions on the formation of an irreversible blood plasma protein layer on a hydrophobi polymer surface. Criteria were found for the relative predominance of processes of adsorption, denaturation and diffusion, according to the rate constant of these processes and flow parameters. Using these criteria formulae were derived to describe kinetics of formation of an irreversible adsorption layer. Results of the theoretical investigation show satisfactory agreement with experimental data published in the literature.
